Foodshare Turkey and a Twenty

Thanksgiving is next week!
Connecticut Foodshare has received requests for 14,600 turkeys to help families in need celebrate the holiday. These turkeys will be distributed over the next 12 days leading up to Thanksgiving. As of right now, Foodshare only has 3,000 turkeys on hand. :o(
In addition to securing the remaining 11,600 turkey donations, Foodshare also needs to raise $460,000. These funds help ensure that the regional food bank can assist hungry families during the winter months ahead.
“We ask everyone to lend a hand this season. Hundreds of local hunger-fighting programs are counting on us to supply them with turkeys and all the usual trimmings needed for Thanksgiving,” says Gloria McAdam, Foodshare President and CEO.
Please help your hungry neighbors...
A turkey provides a traditional holiday meal for a hungry family in our region, and that's important. Yet giving $20 along with a turkey does so much more. Your financial gift allows Foodshare to provide another 20 days worth of food for a person in need this winter.
Time is short. Please visit www.foodshare.org today to find info about collection sites and special drive events near you... or to make a secure online donation.

Thank you for helping to get the word out about the annual Turkey and a Twenty Drive.
As of the close of business on Tuesday, November 13, Foodshare had received donations of 6,201 turkeys toward the goal of 14,600. It's important to know that this is a real goal! Families have signed up in advance for this assistance at the holidays and if we fall short of the goal, that will mean families who don't get a traditional Thanksgiving meal.
We need to raise the next 8,399 turkeys by Monday, November 19, in order to have time to get them out to the families who need them. If you are able, I hope you will consider helping.
